Mel Callender - PGA Golf Professional

PGA Golf Professional Mel Callender is a well-qualified instructor with thousands of golf lessons taught over his career and has been a PGA member since 1985.


He enjoys teaching all skill levels from beginner to the highly skilled player. The most notable pupil he has taught is Craig MacFarlane, a famous blind professional athlete and renowned keynote speaker. 


Mel Callender has served as Head Golf Professional, Director of Golf, Junior Golf Tournament Coordinator and General Manager of various golf courses and golf associations to include past PGA Tour stops (The TPC at The Woodlands, Home of the Shell Houston Open and English Turn, Home of the Freeport-McMoran Open in New Orleans). In addition, Callender was a key golf component of The Houston Golf Associations Junior Golf Program, The Bayou Club (Largo, FL) and Olympia Hills (San Antonio, TX). 


Callender also played Division I golf at Texas Tech, played the South American Tour, Asian Tour and PGA Tour. 


Presently, Callender serves as the San Marcos High School Golf Coach. 


In addition to golf instruction in junior golf camps, Coach Callender gives private golf lessons. 


Private Instruction:

  • Individual Lessons - $45 per lesson
  • Package Lessons (5) - $200 Per Package 

Each lesson is approximately 30 minutes.
